AVANTE COLD-CHAIN SECURITY MONITORING AND MANAGEMENT SOLUTION uses its embedded temperature sensors on active RFID ZONER™ tags placed in a refrigerated shipping container or cargo carrier to document temperatures measurements and any exceptions beyond acceptable ranges. Coupling with driver and staff personnel tag and onboard RELAYER™ reader-monitor and cellular and/or satellite communication network, real-time visibility of the conditions and locations of valuable cold chain assets can be realized.

The patent-pending active ZONER™ tag differs from traditional active tags by emitting an identified signal strength with adjustable communication ranges of 3 to 100 meters. The device emits beacon signals and data including at least the tag ID, transmitted signal strength, remaining battery level and temperatures along with other sensors such as humidity and shock-occurrence at a programmable time period or data packets on-demand. The RELAYER™ reader-monitor records the data along with received signal strength indicator for box integrity. Based on the business rules and requirements such data may be transmitted via cellular and/or satellite communication networks to monitoring centers periodically or as-occurred for any exceptional conditions.

Monitoring Food Supply Chain It is relatively easy to tell most foods have been damaged during shipping. However, the commercial values lost may be very high. Authentication When vaccines reach health clinics and are stored in refrigerators, they are monitored twice a day and readings are recorded on a chart to ensure a safe temperature is maintained. DPT, hepatitis B and tetanus toxoid vaccines can all be damaged by freezing. By shaking two vials, side-by-side, one that might have been frozen and one that has never been frozen, health workers can determine if a vaccine has spoiled. Every vial is also shipped with a vaccine vial monitoring temperature-sensitive label, developed by Seattle-based PATH, that health workers monitor during vaccination sessions.	Reports of temperature exposure history is still important as part of the verification documentation. The temperature sensitive labels and “shake test” are aspects of authentication.
