Special portals and “SMART-SHELVES” using antenna arrays can be constructed to monitor medications, blood, and plasma supplies in real time. In refrigeration units it can continually monitor and maintain a log of temperature and access to the perishables.
The value of this system lies in its low cost means of achieveing real time location capability using the AVANTE patented RFID technology. It’s based on RFID cyclic power zoning (using a burst of different levels of power signals) and a grid, or net, topology of relay readers or “focused field” antenna arrays. It also incorporates the use of on-tag patented “relational check code” and relaying protocol that provide both open and closed applications with unparalleled data integrity and system security.
Each of the active ZONER™ tags runs on a replaceable battery pack, has a typical life of 3-6 years, and is less than 2”x2.5”x 1/4" and weighs less than 28 grams. The RELAYER™ reader is equipped with re-chargeable batteries and runs on AC power or PoE during normal operations. The rechargeable battery acts as an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) whenever there is a power failure.
