2007 RFID TRADESHOWS AND EVENTS

November 10 - 13, 2007* Georgia World Congress Center Atlanta, GA AVANTE BOOTH#243

AVANTE BOOTH# 199 Thank you for visiting!
The following are summary of solutions AVANTE demonstrated in the show. We are looking forward to have opportunity to serve you.

AVANTE To Provide the Combination of Security and Supply Chain Efficiency Via End-to-End Container Real-Time Intrusion and Exception Reporting

EFFICIENCY VS. SECURITY?

AVANTE believe we demonstrated that you do not have to make a choice among the efficiency or security because of cost concern!

The current state-of-the-art in container security and supply chain visibility tend to segment the markets based on electronic/mechanical seals and container tracking solutions. The goal of seals (electronic or mechanical) is to increase the security of a container.  As explained in a recent ABI Research report. “The primary role of the e-seal is to protect a container from being loaded with a weapon of mass destruction; a secondary role is to prevent theft. In either case the seals only recognize when a container’s doors are breached. The e-seal has a mechanical portion that obstructs container doors from being accessed as well as an electronic portion that can determine if the seal has been tampered with or the doors have been breached. Seals can also be attached to an array of sensors that detect other changes in the environment.”

E-seal in the best operational mode today is limited to providing nodal visibility where there is an infrastructure within the choke-point to verify the status of the seal. However, as acknowledged, the seal is only monitoring the door of the container and may not be able to determine the breaching of the container from the other 5 sides of the container.

Traditional container tracking incorporates the use of GPS in combination with Cellular and/or satellite messaging data to provide visibility of the container during transit. This supply chain visibility provides commercial interest to the shippers of high value assets. Because of the relatively higher hardware costs, they are limited to those containers with high value assets or dangerous contents.

However, like E-seals, the assumption is that the container-tracking device is actually associated with the actual containers. There is limited capability to “know” if that is actually valid, there are many easy ways that the more sophisticated tampering parties will be able to move both the electronic seals and the container tracking device to other containers.

AVANTE CONTAINER SECURITY AND VISIBILITY SOLUTIONS
AVANTE has developed a comprehensive and believed to be cost-effective solution to provide the combination of both security and efficiency to the containerized commerce. The solution incorporates many granted patents and pending patents to resolve the following needs in a single package of container security devics in the long sought for “smart container”:

§          Intrusion detection in real-time from any side of the container and openings as small as 6” inches.
§          Real-time reporting of status of the container and any tampering or exceptions along critical inter-modal transit routes and points.
§          The AVANTE “container security device” incorporates two active RFID ZONER tags attached inside the container in constant communication with the RFID RELAYER reader attached to the outside of the container. Removal or destruction of either the inside ZONER tags and/or outside RELAYER reader will be noted in real-time and reported in real-time.

The same ZONER-RELAYER devices are designed to be attached and associated with the specific containers and thus can be used as the electronic license plate (E-Plate) of the containers that will be used more than once. The container security devices have internal battery and power management efficiency to last more than five years under continuous operation.

AVANTE RFID PERSONNEL AND ASSET VISIBILITY SYSTEM

Thank you for visiting us at the ASIS 2007 show in Las Vegas. We hope that we demonstrated some of the most exciting possibilities in access control and personnel visibility.

Our RFID Personnel and Asset Visibility System is the first to provide personnel emergency and evacuation management. The passive RFID in each personnel badge provides door access, while the active RFID provides “in/out” visibility within 15 ft of the non-intrusive and non-obtrusive readers. In case of emergency, the active RFID “on-demand” by the user or “upon-command” by the system administrator, can activate badges to transmit at higher power for 150 ft indoor and 450 ft outdoor visibility. This solution resolves the need for privacy during normal operations and real-time locating and visibility within 2 ft in case of emergency.

Traditional access control systems provide control of access and visibility of personnel as long as they swipe their badges. This visibility is totally or partially lost during an emergency when personnel find the quickest way out. This inability was painfully obvious in the 9/11 disasters. More importantly, we lack visibility of personnel that stayed inside the facility and require rescue. The ability to provide the first responders the ability to see where to deploy their resources and efforts, helps to save lives. The ability for personnel to quickly summon help whether on-demand or in case of an emergency provides value for personnel working in all environments.

The initial demands of such an on-demand and upon-command real-time locating system for personnel visibility are of particular interest to those working in high rise buildings, high danger areas such as chemical, mining, and manufacturing environments. The same system can also be used by first responders such as fire fighters with the deployment of an ad hoc network of readers, while they are involved in emergency rescue.

The system is applicable and scalable to operations of any size, and populations from a few hundred to several hundred thousand, without limit. The AVANTE system saves lives during an emergency while providing enhanced security and safety for operations with a high flow of visitors. The cost is a minimal addition to any advanced access control system.
